Irish Eyes Are Shining!
The I.W.K.R. recently flew to London to take part in
the British National Karate Championships. The club had great success,
winning twelve championship medals at both senior and junior level.
Pictured above are some of the club's students who competed in the
competition.
Our club won a significant amount of silverware. The list of winners
is: Jillian Mulpeter got 2nd in the Girls U10 kumite (sparing) while
Niamh O’ Reilly and Lea O’ Hagan shared 3rd place in the
same competition. Niamh O’ Reilly also picked up a silver medal
when she finished in 2nd place in the Girls U15 kata. Catherine O’
Reilly finished joint 3rd in the same event. Our boys did just as well
as our girls did. Donal Lee came joint 3rd in the Boys U15 kata. His
brother, Ciarán, also achieved a bronze in his kata event, the
boys U10. Ciarán also went on the win the boys U10 kumite. Finally,
in the same event, Brendan Marrett came joint 3rd.
A few of the clubs seniors also travelled. Patrick Leddy got silver
in the Mens’ kumite. Cosa Mohamed also picked up a silver for.
She won hers in the Ladies’ kata. Finally, David O’ Donnell
claimed a bronze in the mens’ kata.
