Karate Success In Italy
High five for Co. Louth as five locals return from the World Youth Karate Games with heads held high. The venue for the games was Southern Italy, where the Irish team received great hospitality from their Italian hosts.

The Irish squad competed against world class opposition from various European and Asian countries.

This is the first time that any of the five locals had been selected to represent their country, and they all did their country proud. Among the medals won by the Irish squad, there were three won by our competitors. David O’ Donnell took a bronze in the Men’s Under 21 team sparing event, Catherine O’ Reilly won bronze in the Girls Under 15 kata and Niamh O’ Reilly won silver in the Girls Under 11 kata. In addition, Clara O’ Reilly took 4th in the Girls Under 12 kata and Tracey Marrett took 5th in the Girls Under 15 kata.
